Bumble is a social networking and online dating application that was launched in 2014 by Whitney Wolfe Herd, a former co-founder of Tinder. However, in 2019 Blackstone acquired the majority stake of the company buying out former Badoo CEO Andrey Andreev. At this time, Wolfe-Herd assumed the role of CEO of Bumble will further incorporating the brands into a wider portfolio company. Though the Bumble app operates on a “women-first” model, where only female users can initiate conversations with their matches, other apps within the portfolio are different. The company went public on February 11, 2021, under the ticker symbol BMBL and raised $2.2 billion in its initial public offering.
